Sharon Curtis Designs
I’ve been working with metals since I started making jewelry. My skills have evolved into a concentration on metal smithing. Fabrication includes the sawing, texturing, filing and soldering or fusing of various metals. My favorite material is silver: I use only fine (pure), sterling (.925) and Argentium silver sheet metal & wire. Metal is at the core of almost every piece of jewelry I make. Silver wire is used extensively in making chains and wrapping glass. I love to incorporate copper and brass into my designs. I enjoy working with mixed metals – fusing, soldering, hammering and texturing them. I’ve found that the time spent cutting, shaping, texturing and finishing metal makes for a beautiful design. Copper, brass and silver provide endless opportunities for diverse, unique designs.
